Bye, bye baby curls!

Jesse finally lost those baby curls, this weekend.  We took him to a local barber shop for his first haircut.  We've been putting this off for a long time, but his crazy hair was getting pretty long, and getting into his eyes... which of course he fussed about! He was such a good boy there, though... what a nice surprise.

We were sure he was going to throw a fit... but, no.. he just sat there and let her cut his hair.  He even let her trim around his neck and ears with the clippers.  He must have been nervous, because he didn't say much. I think he was concentrating on not getting cut!

Mr. Gage

Well, Mr. Gage had his 2 month Dr's visit a few weeks ago (he was really closer to 3 months, though).  He weighed in at 12 lbs, 12 oz... and measured a whopping 25 inches.  Dr. B said he was doing great and holding his head up like a big boy. Jesse better watch out... Gage is going to catch up to him real soon!!

Our little one has been "talking" a lot and loving his big brother.  Jesse will get right in his face, laughing and making funny sounds, and Gage just loves it!!  He smiles back and gets all excited.  Gage is such a happy boy, he even smiles when he's nursing... especially if I'm talking to him.  I sometimes have to stop talking to him, just so he'll stay latched on... what a silly boy!

Happy July 4th!

We participated in the annual July 4th parade sponsored by Yuba City, again this year. Jesse rode in his patriotic wagon and Gage hitched a ride with Daddy. They seemed to have a good time (well, Jesse did, Gage slept the whole time... what a good baby). Jesse got to hang out with his buddy Gannon and see all the cool bikes, wagons and strollers that were decorated. He was a little quiet during the parade... maybe sensory overload. There was a YC fire engine there, so he got to look around and take a few pictures sitting on it.

Later that night we went to Grass Valley and watched fireworks at the Nevada County Fairgrounds. Jesse got a little freaked out at first, but calmed down and had fun watching the cool "fire in the sky". Gage, of course, slept through the entire event... what a good show he missed!

Cooling off in the pool.

Well, we broke down and bought a pool... okay, nothing fancy, just something for us to cool off in and for Jesse to play in. We don't have too much flat land, so we didn't go crazy. But if you were to look at Jesse in it, you'd think it was giant. He loves going to the city pool and playing there, in the splash area, so we thought he's love to have his own pool. He was a little nervous at first, but warmed up to it pretty fast. He can walk around in it... the water comes up to his arms... but he stays pretty close to mom and dad, for now.

We have a few toys and Matt told me he's getting really good at shooting the water gun... Gage and I better watch out!!

Our recent visit with the Crim gang!

Click here for more picsSo, we recently took a week long trip back home to Illinois, to visit with the Crim gang and to attend Matt's 20 year class reunion... yes, that's right, 20 years!!  We had planned on going to the Downes family reunion, also, but we had flight issues (our flight was cancelled due to a fuel leak... a really good reason to be cancelled), so we left a day late and didn't make it. We had a blast hanging out with everyone... especially Jesse and Gage's cousins and "uncles".  Jesse even got to drive a tractor.. with the help of uncle Harlan... what a lucky boy!  We also got to visit the St. Louis Children's Museum, the MagicHouse, during our trip.  What a fun way to beat the heat (it was over 90 degrees our entire trip, + humidity)!!
